About this talk
This talk was recorded at Copenhagen Developers Festival in Copenhagen, Denmark. #cphdevfest #ndcconferences #developer #softwaredeveloper Attend the next NDC conference near you: https://ndcconferences.com https://cphdevfest.com/ Subscribe to our YouTube channel and learn every day: / @NDC Follow our Social Media! https://www.facebook.com/ndcconferences https://twitter.com/NDC_Conferences https://www.instagram.com/ndc_conferences/ #agile We’ve been publishing releases of our open source `[step-ca](http://github.com/smallstep/certificates)` Certificate Authority and `[step](http://github.com/smallstep/cli)` cryptography CLI tool for over four years now, so our release process is fairly mature at this point. In this talk, I will describe at length the current process, share some of the real-world challenges we’ve encountered from publishing open source packages, opportunities for improvement, and tradeoffs. This talk is not to brag about how smooth and amazing our release process is. It is a slightly awkward and lumbering 80% solution that includes a few manual steps is perfect for us. Hopefully some open-source teams can learn from our experience.
