Software development is often challenging, especially when faced with severe hardware constraints: limited CPU power, minimal RAM, and little to no storage. The video game industry has sometimes shown remarkable ingenuity, even bewildering creativity, in overcoming these limitations.We'll review some of the techniques used in famous titles such as Super Mario Bros. on the Nintendo NES, whose cartridge doesn't exceed 40KB, or Quake III with its famous "Fast inverse square root" function.
