Can Data & ML really learn from software engineering? by Matthias Niehoff

Software engineering, data engineering and machine learning: fundamentally different or actually the same? Opinions differ. Some say "More software engineering best practices for data & ML". Others say: "Data and ML are so special and unique that you can't compare them with software engineering." As is so often the case, the truth probably lies somewhere in between. In the talk, I try to take a neutral view of what can be learnt from software engineering, where is data & AI really different. And where is the other way round: learning from data & AI.
