As of the beginning of 2023, FINN united with other Nordic Marketplaces (Blocket, DBA, OIKOTIE, etc.), our team navigated the challenge of doing more with less. We evolved our product offerings, tech stack, and work methods, all with the overarching goal of benefiting both our existing and new users. We changed everything! We shifted from a single insight portal application for subscribing car dealers in Norway to scaling our product offerings across diverse platforms, seamlessly embedding insights in customer journeys, and even reinventing ourselves to serve private users and the financial sector. It could have been painful, but our commitment to working smarter, not harder, made it both fun and avoided burn out. We focused on scalability: building our own component libraries and leveraging tools for effortless documentation, to foster efficiency and innovation. Our toolbox evolution involved moving from specialized to mainstream tools like Kotlin, Spring, Open API, and Swagger as well as some FINN-broad feature toggling tools such as Podium. From a limited pro dealer user base, we've expanded to serve all car data enthusiasts with a lean team of only 4 developers, one product designer, and an EM/PM. Less people, bigger impact, more fun and no burn-out.
