This can be interpreted from a lot of perspectives, but a key aspect is the ability to deliver software fast. Like hundreds of small releases per day while maintaining a reliable and correct service. One part of this is the option of pushing straight to production without any staging environment. In this talk I will go through the techniques that makes this possible. We have learned and evolved these on our journey from a small fast-paced Norwegian startup, through being acquired by big-tech Autodesk where we now are building an industry wide cloud platform. I will show how we have built a culture around empowering individuals, Where as an example, our new hires can push straight to main from their first day. And I will detail how we also minimize the risk of outages and correctness incidents. Most of these techniques assume you can deploy code to production fast. Some are more generally applicable techniques that can be employed in contexts with long deploy cycles too. All of these will give a concrete view into the mindset of how we believe we continuously deliver the most value to our customers.
