Designing and Facilitating Better Workshops - Nick Tune, Mike Rozinsky & Dan Young - NDC London 2023

Whether you are a senior engineer, software architect, product manager, scrum master or anyone else involved in building great products, workshops can be a key tool in helping your teams work together effectively. A great workshop experience creates a collaborative space for creative thinking, idea exploration, convergence on a solution, or a deep learning experience. Whatever challenges a team is facing - mapping out a business domain, designing architecture, exploring new product features, or introducing new ideas - workshops help. Over the past few years I have learned a lot about designing and facilitating workshops, and in this talk I share my learnings with you. After this talk, I hope you’ll be more confident to design and facilitate your own workshops. I’ll share my experiences and practical advice across a range of topics, including: asking great questions to reveal deeper insights about a domain, pre and post-workshop preparation, structuring a workshop narrative, workshop tools and techniques for addressing any kind of challenge, and how to apply all of these ideas remotely.
