My statistic enemy, or why difficulties make better datavisualisation Could a datadesigner struggle with statistics and still be good at his/her job or is it a professional necessity for everyone in datavisualisation to be able to calculate a confidence interval, one hand tied behind their back? While the use of datavizualisation is ever increasing everywhere, are datadesigners doomed to learn data managing, statistics, datascience, coding, modeling while majoring in design before even beginning to be legitimate in their field? If helping understand difficult or huge amounts of data is one of the biggest goal of dataviz, all those different “weakness points” - still to be learned skills - datadesigners carry, in different places depending from where they came initially to do dataviz, could become empowering tools to achieve better datavisualizations and eventually contribute to their accessibility.
