Mind Games: The psychology behind designing beautiful, effective and impactful data viz Data visualization is a design activity. However, most people who are tasked to build data visualizations are not trained in the disciplines of UI/UX Design, HCI (Human Computer Interaction), or User Research. This talk will highlight a number of design and user research best practices that are most relevant to data visualizers. These best practices are rooted in cognitive psychology, HCI, and my own research on how people consume data visualization.
